OUR SPECIAL PROPOSAL : DEOGARH, CHANDERI AND ITS SOURROUNDINGS
Chanderi, located in the Ashoknagar District of Madhya Pradesh, where is ending the
North East area of the Malva plateau, is a very charming town with medieval lock, its white houses rise among old
ochre palaces and walls, that often constitute the original part of many
subsequent buildings. Once flourishing as trade centre between North and
South India, now renowned all over the world for the weaving
of its sarees, Chanderi is particularly attractive for its splendid
monuments, the Qila of the hill Fort, the Jama Masjid, the Badal Mahal (Palace)
Gate, the graves of Hazrat Nizamuddin family, the Kosak
Mahal, the Shezadi
Ka Rauza and the others
tombs situated around the lonely Permashwar Pond , its numerous Baoli and Gates
. Most of these monuments date back to the
time of the Islamic rule of the city, and are works of the Kilji sultans of
Mandu in particular, ( 15th century)- from wich derive the
architectural ornamental similarities between the main contemporary
artistic edifices of Chanderi and of Mandu -In the sorrundings can
be visited the first settlement of the city, on a remote hill, the
fascinating Budhi Chanderi, the old Chanderi, and in the National Museum
and in the Khandargiri caves are located the
principal testimonies of the Hindu and Jain past of Chanderi, now again a
inter-religious centre of the great Indian faiths. The neighbourhood
of Chanderi offers besides, of great importance and beauty, the
mesolititic paintings of the caves of Nanon, and the remains of the Gupta
Behti Math
temple of Behata, preluding, on the opposite bank of the river Betwa,
to the visit of the exceptional Gupta temple of the Then Incarnation
of Vishnu in Deogharh.

Warning, Troubles, Advantages
The road of the Corridor of
the Uttar Pradesh, between Tikamgarh and Chanderi, and in the surroundings
of Chanderi are very bad. The Bus can be the best solution from/ to
Lalitpur, arriving in Lalitpur by train.
The autorickshaw are cheaper than
the cars,
and paying a little extracharge you can use them the whole day without time problems. But
it's really painful to confront by them the roads around Chanderi.
In Chanderi only the restaurants
that we, or the authorised guides, recommend, are reliable.
In the surroundings of
Chanderi frequently it's possible only drink tea and eat biscuits.
In the remote and lonely areas is
dangerous to stay after the sunset.
But, by the same raisons, what wonderful experience, nevertheless,
to visit these extraordinary places!
And what beautiful sarees can
be your
memento of Chanderi.
With our best regards
